My Greatest Adventure

Closing the Teach For America Blogging Gap

Years, Months, Days in the Making

Thursday marks the first day of the rest of my life, the beginning of what may very well be my life’s greatest adventure. My acceptance into the Charlotte ’12 Corps came in October of 2011. Since then, it’s been researching and waiting and imagining what might be in store up ahead. Months later and that moment is almost here, and I can’t wait. So many people have helped and supported me until I could get to this point, and chances are that you’re reading this. I want to thank each and every one of you for being in my corner, and remaining there for these next two years. It’s going to be fun, it’s definitely going to be challenging, and it might even kick my butt. But I’m also expecting it to be life changing.

Induction begins on Monday at JCSU in Charlotte. From there, I’ll be off to Tulsa, OK for a little over a month to partake in what current corps members refer to as “book camp”, and Teach For America refers to as Institute. My entire summer is about to be a whirlwind. I hope to update this blog as much as possible so that I can keep you all up to date on my whereabouts and my highs and lows.

To think that six years ago I stumbled across this website after first deciding that Teach For America is what I wanted to do upon graduation from college. I read corps members blogs just like this and hoped that one day I would have similar stories to tell. Well, here I am, ending my first blog entry on TeachForUs.org. Here’s to the start of my Greatest Adventure. Taking a deep breathe and enjoying the last few days before my life will never be the same, once again…
